The development is really a kind of healing process for the land.

The Aroeira Collections by Missoni Apartments are recognizable as two horizontal structures, embedded between a gentle slope and a flat terrain, separated by an aromatic garden. Natural, durable materials and earthy tones characterize the exterior, bringing to mind the sandy edge of the Caparica cliffs, where the vegetation meets the horizon. Each of the apartments features large balconies as outdoor living spaces that extend inward into the bright rooms. The interiors will showcase Missoni’s custom designs alongside modernist Portuguese furniture. As elsewhere in the Aroeira Collections by Missoni, the durability and sincerity of the materials and substrates are highlighted, prized for their ability to age well and weather naturally.

When architect João Favila describes the apartment project, it is with great attention to the themes of care and renewal. The apartments grow out of what was, for decades, a barren parking lot, carved out of the surrounding topography. The development is really a kind of healing process; replanting whole pines and endemic shrubs, reinstating the estate’s rolling topography, and rebuilding the ground into something living that can host Aroeira’s visitors.
