As one walks the path up to the Aroeira Collections by Missoni Hotel, one can see right through to the landscape beyond—the elevated design leaves the scenery uninterrupted. The building is camouflaged among the pines by its wooden mesh exterior, the structure drawn as a bridge of sorts between pillars and slopes. Everywhere is marked by an interplay of light and shadow. Each of the Hotel rooms’ floor-to-ceiling windows frame the canopies against the sky, the interiors by Missoni remind us of the azure sea just beyond the cliffs.

For chief architect Ana Costa, the center of the collection is always the landscape. Both the design and construction of the Hotel follow the Aroeira Collections by Missoni values- integration with nature, minimal intervention, site-specific solutions and, above all, respect for the land and the community.
